When thinking about wedding momentos, nothing beats capturing all of the small details! After all, it’s all the small details that help piece together your big day + it’s these details that help retell your story. On every photographer’s shot list is the staple flat lay photo. This is the photo which showcases the beautiful stationary for the day, the florals, the rings, just all the goods! All of the small details that have essentially made the day what it is and specific to YOU! So let’s take a look at some things you should have on hand for the perfect photo!
Items for the Bride+Groom:
Here is a quick to follow list of all of the items you should keep aside for your photographer to use!
- Perfume/colognes
- Invitations/RSVP’s/Save the Dates
- Rings
- Bouquet
- Shoes
- Tie
- Earrings/Jewelry/Watches
- Cigars
Items for the Photographer:
- Loose florals! Get in touch with your couple’s florist and ask them to leave some loose florals behind. It is much easier to style with already broken florals than a fully wrapped bouquet. You are able to manipulate their placement easier and spread them out, which really helps tie everything together.
- Ring boxes. Not all of your clients will have a ring box. But start collecting a variety of colored ring boxes to help compliment your client’s color schemes.
- Acrylic boxes. These are the best for adding different dimensions and depth between items in your layout.
- Color Swatches/Loose Ribbons. Color swatches and fabrics can help create a variety of textures in your images. This is also another great way to bring in your client’s color schemes.
- Flat lay mats. You won’t always find yourself in a space conducive or perfect for a flat lay photo. Flat lay mats are a security blanket, they give you a promised clean space to photograph the smaller details.
